The PhD in Engineering at UNBC provides breadth in the substantive and methodological areas of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The PhD provides advanced research and experiential training so that graduates gain academic and practical skills. More specifically, the objective of the PhD program in Engineering is to develop scholars and researchers who can contribute to the larger body of scientific knowledge of Civil and Environmental Engineering through research and have an advanced level of understanding of the applications of their research in practice. The PhD is a research-intensive degree developed for students with a strong background in the fundamental knowledge required for engineering. The supervisory committee assesses the student’s preparedness to conduct research and recommends additional requirements for technical courses. These courses may be offered on campus, through the Western Dean’s agreement, or through reputable online learning platforms such as EdX. |
